Welcome to our new place for the ‘old-school’
quality local news you’ve come to expect … and have respected
Lubbock Report is a nonpartisan, nonprofit news website founded in September 2026 by Terry Greenberg and James Clark, who together have 50 years media experience in Lubbock and even more elsewhere. Terry and James were most recently the two-person newsroom responsible for the news content for nonprofit news website Lubbock Lights starting in 2023.
Why we exist
Lubbock Report exists to uncover and tell in-depth, important and interesting stories other local media don’t cover because of staff or time restrictions. Also, other local media cover the news of the day – which can include crime, traffic accidents, weather, events. We are not designed to do normal news of the day, leaving us free to do more in-depth stories about Lubbock and Lubbock County. We’re also one of hundreds of nonprofit news website sprouting across the country to fill in news gaps due to job cuts in some traditional media.
What do we mean by “old-school” quality local news?
The two of us were taught to cover all sides of an issue in news stories and give you unbiased information you can use to make decisions in a free society. We do original reporting as opposed to some media that curates or aggregates news produced by others. The word “journalism” has become a loaded issue with some people. We prefer the term quality local news.
We have no opinion
Lubbock Report does not do opinion or commentary. There’s enough of that out there clogging our minds.
Advocacy
If and when we do any advocacy, it’s supporting the First Amendment, our constitutionally protected freedom of the press and ensuring we all have open access to public information.

- James Clark
- Donna Olmstead with 30-years of daily newspaper experience at the Albuquerque Journal and other publications, is married to Terry Greenberg. She was also on the staff of The Santa Fe New Mexican and has written for USA Today and The Rocky Mountain News.
At least in our early stages, we want a small board with extensive experience in quality local news.

Our business model and pledge of independence
We are independent. Our support comes from donors, businesses and foundations supporting our mission. That support is greatly appreciated but does not equate to editorial influence beyond suggesting story ideas … which everyone can do. Our goal is not to have more than $5,000 from any one source so no supporter feels they have a right to influence coverage.
Artificial intelligence
We’re a Human First/Last organization. We’re comfortable using AI for research, but will not use it to create or edit our news content. All our content is created and approved by Terry, James or another real human, not one looking like “Agent Smith” from “The Matrix.”
Corrections
We make every effort for our stories to be accurate and fair. If you feel incorrect information is in one of our stories contact us at news@lubbockreport.com.
